OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 28, 2017) – Positive Tomorrows has received a $100,000 donation from Wymer Brownlee. It is the largest gift given to the nonprofit through the Opportunity Scholarship Fund, a tax-credit scholarship granting organization.
The announcement was made on KOCO Channel 5’s morning show this morning. A clip of that video is shown here (http://mms.tveyes.com/PlaybackPortal.aspx?SavedEditID=d9423e2e-18df-4d60-86ed-2bb4529f5b94)
The donation enables more than 10 homeless children to attend the private elementary school for the 2017-2018 school year for free.
“As a wealth management firm, we work with clients every day to invest their financial resources to care generously for their families and communities,” said Kyle Brownlee, Wymer Brownlee CEO and senior wealth advisor. “It’s our pleasure and responsibility for Wymer Brownlee to do so as well, and we believe the mission of Positive Tomorrows could not be a better use for our gift.”
Private donations are Positive Tomorrows’ principal source of funds for school operations and services including transportation, meals, basic needs, school supplies, family support and extracurricular activities. The school also provides health and dental checkups, hearing screening and eye exams for students in need.
“We are grateful for the financial support from Wymer Brownlee, which will cover the expense of providing stability and quality education for families in our community who need it most – with no cost to them,” said Susan Agel, president and principal at Positive Tomorrows. “Gifts from community partners are vital to our continued growth and to the success of our students.”
Positive Tomorrows recently launched a capital campaign to raise more than $10 million for a new building. Last year, 97 students were turned away due to lack of space and resources. The new building will double the school’s capacity, allowing Positive Tomorrows to serve up to 140 homeless children per year.
In addition to its financial gift, Wymer Brownlee contributes to Oklahoma communities by volunteering employee time to worthwhile causes. In 2016, the firm invested nearly 3,000 volunteer hours in five Oklahoma cities.
